Preserving forests for future generations
Plante Reforestation Ltd. is the name of our company. Although it would seem “Plante” is a play on words to suggest “to plant", in which case it goes well with our business, however, it is not entirely the case. The name of the company has ancestral meaning deriving from a Metis, Cree, and French background. The Plante family name holds a significant place within the Métis community, particularly in the historical context of resistance against colonial oppression and advocacy for Métis rights and social equality. Descended from Basil Plante and Genevieve Lacourse, who settled in Red River County, the Plante family has been intertwined with pivotal moments in Métis history, notably during the 1885 Resistance and the activism of Malcolm Norris Plante in the 1930s. Tanya Dutton and her mother Cindy Weismantel proudly carry on the legacy as descendants of these great warriors for the Métis cause. At Plante Reforestation, our vision is to become the leading provider of sustainable forestry solutions in the industry. We aim to achieve this by delivering innovative and environmentally responsible solutions that exceed our clients' expectations.
Our team of forestry professionals has years of experience in forest management, we offer environmentally driven reforestation specializing in tree planting, tree sourcing, and site preparation. We have the skills, knowledge, and equipment to handle any forestry project, no matter how complex.
We are committed to working with our fellow Metis, Indigenous partners, clients, and government bodies to develop custom solutions that meet their unique needs. We believe in open communication, transparency, and building long-term relationships based on trust and mutual respect. At present, we have an agreement with fellow Metis property owners and other private landowners to cultivate between 200,000 to 300,000 trees on as much as 800 acres of land. If we secure the necessary funding for sapling acquisition and wages of the tree-planting workforce, we can move forward with the project and continue doing our part in tackling global warming.
At its core, Plante Reforestation partners with local nurseries to acquire high-quality seedlings and collaborates with landowners to identify and negotiate terms for reforestation projects. This partnership-based approach allows the company to efficiently source materials and secure access to suitable land for planting.
The key activities of Plante Reforestation include scouting and assessing land for reforestation potential, engaging in negotiations with landowners to secure agreements, preparing the land for planting through necessary groundwork and logistics, and finally, planting trees using the acquired seedlings.
The company's value proposition lies in its ability to provide a comprehensive solution for landowners looking to reforest their properties, while also offering corporations and government entities avenues for fulfilling their sustainability goals. By facilitating the process from start to finish, Plante Reforestation alleviates the burden on landowners and provides a vital service for environmental conservation.
At Plante Reforestation, we take pride in delivering exceptional quality and service to our customers.
Plante Reforestation's revenue streams primarily come from reforestation services and contracts with private, corporate, and government clients. Additional revenue is also generated through participation in carbon offset programs or other environmental initiatives.
Overall, Plante Reforestation operates at the intersection of environmental stewardship and business, leveraging partnerships, expertise, and funding avenues to drive positive impact through reforestation efforts in Alberta.
